In general, moths get a hard time.
For some reason, people stereotype them as ugly, drab, cloth-eating rascals that are so stupid that they skip around a light all night. I call those people racists. They are in fact from the same family as everyone’s favourite happy-day joy floaters; the butterflies.
Moths are easily as beautiful as their poncey butterfly cousins. Some moths are graced with incredible natural patterns and bright vivid colours to rival the butterflies. They also have superbly textured bodies and I love the fact these flying underdogs can probably teach us a thing or two about colour matching too.
I might be doing a bit of moth watching over the Xmas holidays if they’re about and was thinking of getting this wee book to help me identify them.
Some come on, give it up for the moths…
