Guardian Travel Section

It’s rare that I gripe about publications, but as this is the 100th post, I’m going to do so with great tenacity.
Recently I have found a growing distaste for the content in the Guardian’s printed Travel supplement, which comes free with its Saturday paper. A quick glide through the digital image-heavy pages will tell you that there is actually no global financial crisis taking place really and that everyone has plenty of spare cash (and time) to fly to places like Martinique, where you can experience a ‘grown-up’ holiday far away from the Easyjet crowd. All this flying away is justified by a relatively small but regular feature on some £140 a night honeypot pub in Dorset (with ivy growing up the exterior – you know the one), where you can experience a gastronomically elevating evening. I love travelling, but does anyone else find this sort of dwindling print standard to be rather useless?
It didn’t used to be like this.
Stop the bus, please…
