Quote Vadis

Quote aggregation sites have been around on the internet since as far back as I can remember. Most of them have been helping speech makers and mentally challenged birthday card writers regurgitate the same exhausted and dreary quotes for over a decade now.

Thankfully for us, the Quote Vadis blog is around to philosophically educate us. A few of the quotes are from the same old faces, but even then the selected quote is relatively uncommon and more importantly, its relevance is reinforced with a simple evocative excerpt of choice background info.

Successful blogs should probably have a manifesto of some description (even if it is private) and I feel that Quote Vadis have a particularly strong one. I’ve checked their blog almost every day this week and the contrast between the variety of quotes has surprised me and it has to be said, inspired me to do some research on a few characters too (see old Bertrand above). However, I feel like at any minute I’m going to be fed an old Churchill, Ghandi or Abraham Lincoln line that will turn it all to dust (such a cynic I am). But until then, I will keep dipping in there – I find it particularly provocative during morning coffee. You might too.

Thanks for the good review. I hope QV will manage to keep the good pace and not disappoint you with some Churchill or Gandhi quote. Cheers!

I’ve never been disappointed yet. I’m still popping over for my fix too.
